Thine Ancient Days: A WFU History, 1818-1956 with Jenny R. Puckett Tuesday, September 15, 5:30 p.m.
Wake Forest Special Collections, in partnership with the Wake Forest Historical Museum, is proud to bring you an inside look at the making of Thine Ancient Days with author Jenny Puckett.
Jenny was a lecturer in Spanish at Wake Forest from 1995 – 2013, during which time she developed a passionate interest in the history of our alma mater.
On Sep 15th Jenny will share her experience (seven years in the making!) in authoring Thine Ancient Days: A WFU History, 1818-1956, a pictorial history of Wake Forest Institute and College during the 122 years that the school was located in Wake County, NC. The writing of this book was originally inspired by the curiosity of twenty-first century Wake Forest students, who wished to know how their university got started, how it arrived here from there….and what it must have looked like in the past. The text is arranged in story form, accompanied by beautiful historic images and artifacts.
Years of museum and library research produced extensive material describing historic events, changing times, and fascinating people that inhabited the small town and college near Raleigh. Although the book’s historical chronology is carefully preserved, the stories of discrete moments of Wake Forest history can be read in any order, without breaking the narrative thread.
