In the spirit of Pro Humanitate, WAKEHickory is supporting children’s literacy during our Local Lovefeast. We invite attendees to bring a children’s book on December 8 to benefit Centro Latino of Hickory’s Tutoring Program. The Abriendo Puertas (Opening Doors ) tutoring program provides after school homework assistance and literacy instruction for at- risk students in grades Kindergarten – 5. Abriendo Puertas would welcome any picture books, beginning readers and/or short chapter books for K-5 students. The greatest need is for beginning readers for the K-1 students. Thank you for spreading the light of literacy to children in your community!
